Named Frameworks
Five Stages of B2B Paid Media (Sylvio Perez)
Replaces TOFU/MOFU/BOFU with a full buyer-journey bucketing model. Every paid campaign maps to one stage:
- Create. Brand affinity, trust, strategic narrative. Warm prospects not yet in-market.
- Capture. Convert in-market buyers. Google Ads dominates (intent keywords, alternatives, comparisons).
- Accelerate (sales-led) or Activate (product-led). Move deals to close faster, or nudge free users to paid.
- Revive. Bring lost deals back into pipeline.
- Expand. More revenue from existing customers (referrals, upsells, cross-sell).
Each stage gets its own audience, KPIs, and offer. Most B2B programmes only run Capture and miss the other four. Pure Capture caps growth at current in-market demand size.

Three Cs of Creative Testing
Sequence tests by expected lift size:
- Concept first. Wildly different formats: video vs meme vs static vs carousel. Biggest delta.
- Copy second. Variations of the winning concept: short vs long, direct vs narrative hook, pain-led vs outcome-led.
- Colour and design minutiae last. Font weight, border, filter. Smallest lift.
Run 3 concepts. Pick the winner. Then 3 copy variants on that concept. Then visual details.

Daniel Priestley Early-Ad-Platform Window
When a new ad platform launches or an existing one resets, a 6-12 month window opens where huge audiences meet low advertiser competition. Clicks cost pennies. Corporate buyers need ~6 months to plan and ~6 months to test, then the window closes.
Trigger this check when any major platform announces ads: ChatGPT ads, Threads ads, YouTube Shorts shifts, any platform revamp after a leadership change. Experiment within 2-4 weeks of launch. Do not wait for case studies.

95/5 Rule (Applied to Paid)
Only 5% of TAM is actively buying at any moment. Direct-response paid targets the 5% (commercial-intent keywords, competitor alternatives, demo requests). The other 95% are browsing, researching, or unaware. Build a second paid layer (thought leader ads, educational retargeting) so they remember the brand when they enter the 5%.
Running only 5% campaigns caps scale at current in-market demand. Running only 95% produces no short-term pipeline. A full programme runs both in parallel with separate audiences, KPIs, offers.

Playbooks
LinkedIn Thought Leader Ads for B2B SaaS (2026)
Dominant LinkedIn format for 2026 for companies with $10K+ LTV. Promote personal posts from founders or execs, not company-page content.
Why it works: Thought leader ad CPC runs roughly half of company-post CPC. Organic social proof (likes, comments) transfers to the boosted version and onto the landing page. Prospects click with trust already priced in.
Prerequisites: Founder or exec with LinkedIn history and ICP audience. Organic posts with engagement (100+ likes before boosting). Budget $2K-$3K/month minimum. Product LTV $10K+ (below that, use Meta instead).
Step-by-step:
- Pick the exec with strongest ICP-relevant following.
- Select 3-5 top organic posts across funnel stages: top ("you might be experiencing..."), mid (playbooks, how-tos), bottom (case studies, client reviews).
- Edit each to include a clear CTA and link at the bottom.
- Stand up a retargeting audience covering website visitors from SEO, content, YouTube, podcasts, other paid channels.
- Build a tight cold ICP audience (20K-80K, not 400K). Upload a known account list when possible.
- Turn LinkedIn Audience Network OFF on every campaign.
- Switch bidding from default "max delivery" to manual. Bid BELOW LinkedIn's lowest recommended range.
- Allocate majority to retargeting first. Cold prospecting budget grows as retargeting saturates.
Expected metrics: CPL $50-150. CTR 0.6%-1.0% (above 1% is strong). Cost per discovery call around $450. Cost per client around $1,300 on a 6-call-to-2-client close rate.

Paid-to-Content Bridge (Stack Paid on Organic)
Stack paid on top of organic rather than running two disconnected programmes.
Flow:
- Identify what already works organically: posts with strong engagement, blog posts with high time-on-page, videos with above-average watch time.
- Set up retargeting to audiences reached by those assets (website visitors, video viewers, post engagers).
- Serve warm retargeted audiences more proven content.
- Sprinkle in social proof ads (case studies, review videos, logo walls).
- After 3-5 touches, serve a direct offer (demo, trial, consult).
- Net-new prospecting runs as a separate campaign with marketing-audience exclusions so prospects do not see ads from both prospecting and retargeting stacks simultaneously.
Budget split at small scale ($2K-$3K/month): Push most of the budget to retargeting. $30/day across a 3,500-person audience makes you look omnipresent to the ICP. In B2B with 12-36 month sales cycles, staying top of mind is half the battle. Prospecting budget grows as the retargeting pool saturates.

Deadly Trio: YouTube + SEO + LinkedIn Retargeting
For SaaS teams targeting daily inbound demos without hiring a large marketing team.
- YouTube for demand gen. Publish platform-specific pillar content targeting ICPs. Builds a searchable, evergreen video library that gets recommended over months.
- SEO + AI search for demand capture. Rank for buying-intent terms, comparisons, alternatives, integrations, vertical-specific searches.
- Founder brand on LinkedIn organically. Daily posts, read the 1-2 hour feedback loop on each one.
- Boost top organic posts to a cold ICP list as thought leader ads.
- Retarget all traffic from SEO, YouTube, and AI search with LinkedIn ads.
Compounding effect shows in 6-12 months. Do not attempt this with a single marketer juggling 5 priorities. It requires sustained channel commitment.

B2B Paid Campaign Planning Sequence
Before launching anything, run through this 5-step sequence:
- Goal. Which of the 5 Stages does this campaign serve (Create / Capture / Accelerate / Revive / Expand)? One stage per campaign. (1 hour)
- Channel. Based on budget and ICP location. Lower budget = fewer options. LinkedIn or Google for B2B. YouTube as a cheaper alternative. (1 day)
- KPIs. Define leading KPI (7-14 day feedback: CTR, view rate, page visits) and lagging KPI (signups, demos, closed revenue). (1 hour)
- Ad persona. Convert buyer persona into ad persona: exactly how you will reach them on the chosen channel (remarketing, customer list, contextual keywords, custom segments). (half day)
- Offer. What the prospect gets on the other side of the click: demo, course, ebook, walkthrough, audit. (1 day)
Total planning: 2-3 days. Some plan beats no plan. The 5 Stages prevents the common tunnel vision on Capture-only campaigns.

Phil Iliac Case Study: LinkedIn Ads in One Month (UK market)
Replicable for any B2B service or SaaS with $10K+ LTV and a personal LinkedIn account with history.
Setup: Took a previously-paid product and gave it away as a free lead magnet via an organic LinkedIn "comment-and-like" post. Boosted that post as a thought leader ad with the CTA edited to a download link. Landing page with immediate LinkedIn DM + Loom walkthrough + 5-email sequence with real value.
One-month numbers (GBP, UK advertiser):
- Spend: ~$2.2K. CPC: ~$6.50. CPM: ~$65. Leads: 155. Cost per lead: ~$14.
- Landing page conversion: 45%. Booked calls: 6 at ~$370/call. Clients signed: 2 at ~$1,100 CAC.
- Loom video: 1,000+ views. 60% of leads read all 5 follow-up emails.
What made it work: Genuinely valuable lead magnet (not repackaged blog). Thought leader ad format (half the CPC of company posts). Social proof from the organic post carried through to ad and landing page. Outbound + Loom + email stacked together. Tight ICP audience.
Caveat: Long sales cycles inflate true CAC. Phil acknowledges some converters first touched the brand 1-2 years earlier via newsletter. Apply 12-24 month attribution before judging.

AI-Assisted Ad Creative Pipeline (Sub-$100 Video Ads)
Replaces traditional video production (6 months, six figures) with AI tooling.
- Script in a doc (Notion or similar).
- Generate video with Google Veo 3.
- Lock character consistency across shots using Nano Banana.
- Voice the script with ElevenLabs (can clone a specific delivery style).
- Edit together.
Total cost: roughly $100. Useful for rapid concept testing before committing to real production. Mudwater's CEO reportedly used this approach.
Rapid refresh of existing creative: Drag a flat static ad into ChatGPT Image. Prompt for tropical, colourful, or stylistic variations. 1-2 minutes per variant replaces $200-2000 design rounds.
Thousand-variant testing: Once a baseline winner exists, use generative AI (ChatGPT, Sora, ABM tools like Carrot) to produce thousands of variations from the proven template. Push all variants live. Let the algorithm find the winner. Do not auto-generate without a proven baseline.

Tactics
Audience Layering on LinkedIn
- Audience ceiling: 100K. LinkedIn's algorithm is manual vs Meta's AI. Audiences over 100K waste budget. Tighten to 20K-80K.
- Upload known account lists for ABM when possible. Tighter than any filter combination.
- Job title + seniority filter. Not just title. "Manager" without seniority pulls junior ICs.
- Separate campaigns by company size band. Enterprise vs SMB buyers behave differently.
- Below 50K audience means limited delivery. Expand or upload a bigger list.
Source: https://youtu.be/oVNDROSaSZ4?t=215
LinkedIn Settings Hygiene
Three silent campaign-wreckers:
- Audience Network OFF. Default is ON. Distributes ads off LinkedIn to third-party publishers. Targeting collapses, CTR inflates, conversions do not follow.
- Manual bidding, not max delivery. Click the hidden "see more" link to reveal manual. Bid BELOW LinkedIn's lowest recommended range.
- Dedicated landing pages only. One offer. Buyer pain in the headline. Social proof above the fold. Single CTA. Never homepage or generic product page.

Device Breakdown Audit
Most B2B SaaS sees ~90% LinkedIn ad engagement on mobile, where forms are friction. Pull Campaign Manager → demographics → device breakdown. If mobile dominates: use LinkedIn native Lead Gen Forms (lower quality, higher volume) and strip landing page form fields aggressively.
Source: https://youtu.be/yUzKff_6pX0?t=750
Retargeting-First Budget Allocation
With $2K-$3K/month, push as much as the retargeting audience can absorb before prospecting. $30/day across a 3,500-person audience creates omnipresence at low cost. Prospecting runs on leftover budget and grows as retargeting saturates.
Source: https://youtu.be/aHYR1EW_dlE?t=1262
Non-Performer Rule (When to Pause)
Set target cost per outcome (e.g. $100 per demo). If an ad spends 2-3x that without a conversion, pause it. Removes emotional attachment. Forces creative iteration volume.
Counter-rule: do NOT let AI auto-pause new campaigns in week one. Google and Meta need learning-phase time. Humans make patience-required pause calls; AI surfaces insights.
Sources: https://youtu.be/aHYR1EW_dlE?t=1556, https://youtu.be/VhjMD1A-i0g?t=1965
Thought Leader Social Proof Transfer
Boost an organic post AFTER it has accumulated likes (Phil waited ~500). Edit only the CTA to point to the landing page. Keep likes, comments, shares visible. Effects: CPC roughly half of company-post CPC, landing page conversion lifts 2-3x (Phil hits 45-50% on "pretty crap" pages).
Source: https://youtu.be/oVNDROSaSZ4?t=1085
Google Ads for Demand Capture
Run only on bottom-funnel money keywords for the 5% in-market. Bid on "best X", "X alternatives", "X pricing", "X vs Y". Each ad group → tailored landing page with PAS (problem / agitate / solve) structure. Social proof above fold. Single CTA.
Counterintuitive finding: on branded search specifically, manual bidding beat automated across 8+ accounts at Sylvio's agency. Counter to the "always use smart bidding" advice.
Sources: https://youtu.be/l5UPhG7zRPM?t=1170, https://youtu.be/aHYR1EW_dlE?t=2497
Full-Funnel CRM Tracking
Tag every lead with source. Track through discovery → demo → closed-won. Pull closed-won rate BY SOURCE. Pattern that repeats: paid social produces volume with lower close rates; SEO, AEO, podcast mentions, and partnerships produce lower volume with much higher close rates. Reallocate toward closed revenue, not MQL counts. Talk to sales and CS about which leads they actually closed. Qualitative read usually aligns with source data.

Connected TV (CTV) Experimentation Budget
B2B CTV (Netflix, Hulu, Roku) inventory is currently mispriced. Most B2B brands stay on LinkedIn and Google. ROI outpaces B2C CTV. Carve 10-15% of paid budget. Measure via brand search lift and incremental inbound, not direct attribution (CTV direct attribution is always broken).

Examples with Numbers
Sylvio's College DJ Business (The "Show Up or Don't Pay" Offer)
- Business: Miami college DJ in a market where "everyone is a DJ".
- Guarantee: "We show up on time or you don't pay." Removed the biggest buyer fear (DJ no-show).
- First lead cost: $4 on Google Ads.
- Converted to $650 cash for 4 hours of work.
Replicable for high-trust-required services (consulting, agencies, home services). The offer does the heavy lifting before the ad creative ever matters.
Caveat: Google Ads CPCs were much cheaper at the time. Current CPCs will compress the margin.

Edward Sturm's Twitter Ad Window (Late 2023)
After Elon's Twitter acquisition, major advertisers left and the ad system was being rebuilt. Edward exploited the supply-demand gap:
- $0.04 spent → 163,000 impressions, 214 link clicks.
- $3.99 spent → 8.9M impressions, 11K link clicks.
- $165 spent → 4.2M impressions, 6.6K link clicks.
Window closed within the first few days of January 2024. The lesson: when a platform's ad system resets, act within days or weeks, not months.

Sam Dunning's Breaking B2B Agency
Spends $2K-$3K USD/month on LinkedIn thought leader ads. Most inbound discovery calls mention LinkedIn as part of the prospect's journey.
Stack:
- Top organic posts from the founder account with baseline social proof.
- Website visitor retargeting pool.
- Cold ICP list for net-new exposure.
- Combined with founder-led daily organic posting.
Replicable for any B2B SaaS or services company where dream clients are on LinkedIn with 6+ month sales cycles.

Enrich ABM Ungated Asset Campaign
B2B SaaS ABM tool Enrich (founder Julia) ran tailored ungated ebook ads as part of retargeting their ABM list. SDRs spent 30 minutes per prospect co-creating custom assets, audits, or short ebooks.
Booked a profitable volume of sales calls and demos. The tailoring per ABM target (rather than one generic gated whitepaper) produced the lift. Requires SDR capacity to sustain.

Anti-Patterns
Changing Audiences When Creative Is the Problem
If LinkedIn ads underperform with verified ICP targeting, do NOT switch audiences. You are in front of the right person. The gap is creative. Test more hooks, more formats. Switching masks the real weakness.
Source: https://youtu.be/aHYR1EW_dlE?t=1620
Default Max-Delivery Bidding
LinkedIn pre-selects max delivery with no efficiency discipline. Find the hidden manual bid option. Always bid below LinkedIn's lowest recommended range.
Source: https://youtu.be/oVNDROSaSZ4?t=255
Leaving LinkedIn Audience Network On
On by default. Distributes ads off LinkedIn to third-party publishers. Targeting collapses. CTR inflates. Conversions do not follow. Most "failed" LinkedIn accounts have this on without realising. Turn off on every campaign.
Source: https://youtu.be/yUzKff_6pX0?t=120
LinkedIn Audiences of 400K-1M
Meta-style thinking applied to LinkedIn. LinkedIn's algorithm is manual vs Meta's AI. Wide audiences waste budget. Keep 20K-80K. Upload an account list.
Source: https://youtu.be/oVNDROSaSZ4?t=215
Paid Traffic to Homepage or Product Page
Homepages have full navigation, footer links, multiple CTAs. Too many ways to leave. Conversion tanks. Build dedicated noindex landing pages with one offer, privacy/terms-only footer, no header nav. Removing header and footer alone can 2-3x conversion rate.
Sources: https://youtu.be/f9o_ch6Iiaw?t=3760, https://youtu.be/yUzKff_6pX0?t=720
Pure Conversion Optimisation When the Bottleneck Is Reach
Advertising can 10x or 100x a business. CRO is capped at 100% improvement by definition. Most businesses cycle through optimisation when the real move is advertising volume.
Decision rule:
- Below baseline conversion: fix the page, offer, or sales process first.
- Core funnel converts: advertise.
- CPL rising but CPM flat: offer or creative is broken, not audience size.
Only metric that justifies pausing a new campaign: negative ROAS after minimum 3x target CPA in spend. Pausing on day-to-day variance kills campaigns that would have become profitable.

Starting with Reddit Ads Before Learning Organic
Reddit users hate brand ads. You do not know the voice yet. Correct order: social listening for 2-3 weeks → organic commenting → optional community presence → only then use Reddit Pro to promote best organic posts as ads (same pattern as LinkedIn thought leader ads).
Source: https://youtu.be/sOCxXJzlB-A?t=1565
Forced Creator Ad Reads
A 30-60 second creator ad slot that interrupts the narrative. Viewers tune out. No story context. Better: donate, gift, or partner so the product becomes part of the creator's daily content.

Running LinkedIn Ads with Sub-$10K LTV
If you sell something for $1K, LinkedIn ads are not for you. Route to Meta. LinkedIn's cost structure (CPC ~$6, cost per call ~$450, cost per client ~$1,300) only works with $10K+ LTV.
Source: https://youtu.be/oVNDROSaSZ4?t=911
Letting AI Auto-Pause New Campaigns
Google and Meta need learning-phase time. AI without full business context pauses prematurely. Keep humans in the loop for new campaigns.
Source: https://youtu.be/VhjMD1A-i0g?t=1965
Single-Platform Reliance
Team time often skews to whatever feels comfortable (organic social) while ROI at $100M+ companies comes from SEO, paid ads, and influencer marketing. Audit hours spent vs revenue produced. Reweight toward unsexy revenue channels. Top spend at scale by order: Google Ads, Facebook, Instagram, Amazon, YouTube.

Apify MCP for Competitor Ad Research
Pull competitor paid ad data (keywords, spend estimate, landing pages, geo targeting) inside the IDE via Apify MCP rather than browsing each tool's UI.
Returns:
- Paid keyword count.
- Monthly visitor estimate.
- Monthly spend estimate.
- Number of landing pages.
- Works for Google, Meta, and LinkedIn ads.
Sample output: "Competitor X: 42 keywords, 4,300 visits/mo, $1,700 spend, 9 landing pages."

Remotion for Self-Built Video Ads
Framework for building video ads via code. Paired with an AI coding agent (Claude Code, Cursor, or similar), marketers can generate 30-second video ads from natural language prompts. First version is rough; iteration brings it to usable quality. Replaces video editor engagements for simple creative.
